I love living at Colonial Grand at Edgewater Apartments! There really isn't anything bad to say.
The property is gorgeous and well kept, situated next to a beautiful lake with a lovely sunset, and a nature preserve. It's conveniently located, and within walking distance to restaurants, grocery, and more! Not to mention, interstate access and lots of other great spots within a 2 to 5 mile radius!
The people who work here make it even better! The maintenance guys are always friendly and do a good job in a timely manner. Adam does a great job of keeping them all organized and on track, and Alvie always makes sure the property looks great! The ladies in the office are always a such a joy! Markita is a big ray of sunshine as soon as you walk in the door with her cheerful greetings, Starr is always so sweet and always greets us with a friendly smile and ready to help, Samantha is so kind, friendly, full of smiles, and always ready to help, and Sandi is the glue that holds the whole place together, and she has been nothing but kind and helpful. Even when the day is busy and they have a full plate, they never let you feel like you are a bother. We just love them!
My husband and I signed our second lease over the summer. We've decided that as long as we continue to be renters, we will do so right here at Colonial Grand at Edgewater!
It's also worth noting, we have visited other MAA properties in the area and they were all very lovely. Edgewater just felt like home.
P.s. I don't currently have any pets, but I'm glad I live here if I decide I ever want to. They have a fantastic pet policy and don't discriminate against specific breeds.
I’ve lived at Edgewater for over a year now and it has been the best experience. Not only is the area beautiful but the staff goes above and beyond. Markita Collier gave me the initial tour of the apartments and helped me apply. Since then, she has been so helpful with any questions and just an overall friendly and genuine person!!! If you’re looking for somewhere to move, this is definitely the spot!
The location is great, and the staff and grounds are nice but the apartment sure needs updating. The paint on the walls is a cheap flat white and you can see all the brush strokes. Terrible! Cracked floor tiles in kitchen and bath, ensuite mirror and light panel damaged from humidity, toilets weren't sealed so a very strong odor our first 2 days. No washer or dryer even though website for our unit advertised there would be. Dishwasher doesn't drain completely. HVAC doesn't function well, only heats main living area. No icemaker in fridge even though one was advertised. We were told there were multiple maintenance people, turns out there is only one for the complex! Very Disappointed!
The best thing about this apartment complex is the location to the lakes. The beauty of nature almost makes up for the crusty outdated apartment. There’s always dog poop everywhere, sometimes the dog poop trash is overflowing, sometimes the actual trash compactor is overflowing. Neighbors can be inconsiderate with their vehicle music levels, litter everywhere, and dogs not leashed.
The front office ladies are nice. Though, I’ve had several complaints and need for maintenance that took nearly six months to address after asking multiple times for it to be addressed since I moved in. I ended up terminating my lease.
Like I said if you’re looking for a good view this is the spot, maybe just pick the newer apartments? Oh and don’t get me started on the amount of emails this complex sends out asking for donations to their charity. I can’t unsubscribe because I might miss something important but the excessive amount of emails should be considered spam. Another thing is, if you work late don’t expect to get your packages unless you have a day off, all packages unless by UPS or whatnot get sent to the main office where you have to go pick up during office hours.
I’ve lived a few different places in Huntsville but this is by far my favorite. Beautiful place, wonderful neighbors, lots of space, and amazing office management. Markita, at the office, is always so kind and so welcoming! She always makes us feel at home!
My wife and I are very exciting with the choice we made. With similar rates to other apartments in the area, your money goes a long way here. The lake is beautiful and really captures the peaceful morning ambience of the community.
There are many things I like and dislike about this apartment complex. Let’s start with the good.
-great location, nice proximity to Madison and Huntsville. Access to Lady Ann Lake is wonderful.
- grounds are kept very nice by landscaping and maintenance staff. Grass is always kept trimmed, shrubs and garden areas are well maintained. Pet waste bags, are ALWAYS stocked with bags, and disposal containers are never overflowing.
-quiet and calm atmosphere. For the most part noise is no issue. I work from home, and during the day on weekdays it’s very quiet and relaxed. Even on the weekends in the evenings it’s still relatively quiet. No loud music going into the late hours, just the occasional loud car stereo.
-the office staff are very nice, and Starr was helpful and replied very quickly to any questions we had when we were preparing for our move.
Now onto the negatives.
- pet waste, EVERYWHERE! I get that picking up after your dog is not fun, but I do not enjoy having to dodge poop even on the sidewalk.
- pets not being on leash/aggressive behavior.
Several times I’ve been walking my dog, and have encountered other dogs off leash and approaching us aggressively. Also I’ve witnessed one dog in particular on several occasions, lunging at me and my dog, while the man walking it was on the phone not paying attention, and nearly escaping. This dog also growled and lunged at my husband while he was getting something out of his car. My dog is 16 and not very big, I feel very uneasy taking her outside.
- the trash situation seems to get out of control easily. I don’t know if this has anything to do with property management, or the trash company. However, on several occasions there has been so much bulk trash around the compactor that I couldn’t even put my trash in the compactor.
- there is litter everywhere. Someone left a paper plate and plastic fork on the sidewalk not far from my front door. Also, I’ll see empty bottles, and wrappers all over, even in the ponds on the property. I know this has more to do with the other residents, and not management or the maintenance staff.
-recent vehicle break ins, has us on edge. Maybe a gate would help keep out people that aren’t residents? Unless it’s other residents breaking into vehicles?
-the apartments are very pricey for the amenities available. The kitchen is very small and barely functional. $1,600/ month is too much for what you get. Probably will not be renewing our lease.
I live in these apartments for four years and I am loving it!! Location is excellent, close to the Redstone Arsenal, grocery stores, and about 10 minutes away from The Bridge Street. There is a nice walking trail around the lake, always beautiful! Apartments are well maintained - clean, safe and have an amazing management! People in the office are very professional, helpful and friendly. I know that if I will ever have any problem - I will get help from them! Laundry room, gym are always available and always well kept. I really love living here!
